NETWORK ENGINEER (IT Consulting)

Location: Albuquerque/Santa Fe, New Mexico

Responsibilities: As a Network Engineer at our organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping technical solutions for our diverse clientele. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

1. Client Consultation:

  • Collaborate with clients across various industries to understand their unique needs, business strategies, and future goals.
  • Determine the most effective technical solutions tailored to their requirements.

 

2. Solution Design:

  • Work closely with vendors, manufacturers, and colleagues to design robust and efficient solutions.
  • Leverage your expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to assist the Sales Team in creating and presenting technical proposals aligned with client objectives.

 

3. Network Deployment:

  • Design and deploy network technology solutions, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, as well as associated cabling, cable management, and power resiliency.

 

4. Security and Best Practices:

  • Implement industry best practices for security, monitoring, and configuration management.
  • Adhere to established frameworks and methodologies.

 

5. Client Support:

  • Provide timely support to clients by troubleshooting service requests.
  • Anticipate potential issues and proactively implement solutions.

 

6. Detailed Documentation:

  • Maintain comprehensive records of all work performed in our ticketing system, supporting client billing and information aggregation.

 

7. Customer Relationship Building:

  • Cultivate positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and vendors.

 

To excel in this role, you should possess the following:

1. Proven Expertise:

  • Demonstrated success in designing, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex systems and solutions.

 

2. Effective Communication:

  • Ability to articulate technical solutions to clients across various roles, including IT Staff, Management, Organizational Leadership, and C-Level executives.

 

3. Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong grasp of the OSI model.
  • Experience in network security planning and implementation, traffic management, segmentation, routing protocols, and familiarity with both open standards and Cisco-proprietary functionality (VTP, GVRP, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP).
  • Proficiency in creating diagrams and flow charts.
  • Significant experience with networking a variety of systems including desktops, laptops, servers, storage, security, and virtual systems.
  • Familiarity with manufacturer-based technologies such as Cisco, Extreme, Aruba, Sophos, SonicWALL, Fortinet, Juniper, and HP networking.

 

4. Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective written, verbal, and face-to-face communication skills.

 

5. Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong business acumen and emotional intelligence (EQ).
  • Active listening for successful consultative conversations.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • Present and explain technical information effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • Communicate orally and in writing in English with staff, clients, and partners at all levels.

 

6. Continuous Learning:

  • Driven to stay updated as technology evolves.

 

7. Project Management Experience:

  • Familiarity with project management principles.

  • Effective time management.

 

8. Industry Background:

  • At least 3 years of networking and IT industry experience.
